The RMSG recommends:
Western Martial Arts
Schools
The Chicago Swordplay Guild-
The CSG, founded by Greg Mele, Mark Rector and Bjorn Skaptson is the
pre-eminent school of historical swordplay in the Chicago Area. The
RMSG is proud to be affiliated with them, and use their Longsword
curriculum as the basis for our own work and classes.
The
Selohaar Fechtschule-The
martial arts branch of Christian Tobler's 'Order of Selohaar', the
fechtschule is located in Connecticut, with study groups in Kansas, New
York, and Washington.
Alliance
Martial Arts-
Alliance Martial Arts, and it's head instructor Pete Kautz, is THE
place to go for high-end combatives training. The RMSG cannot recommend
them highly enough.
Practice Equipment and
Vendors
Revival Clothing-
Owned and Operated by Nicole Allen, Revival specialises in
high-quality, historically authentic designs for the discerning
practitioner. The majority of the RMSG training uniform comes from
them.
Terry
Tindill-
Terry makes the 'Tindill Tophat', our preferred sparring helmet. With a
strong background in historical fencing and combat, Terry provides the
best helmets around. Again, this is an RMSG recommended vendor for our
training equipment.
Albion
Swords- Albion makes some of the
best swords available, in a variety of styles. We lean towards the 'Maestro'
Line for our sparring weapons.
No
Quarter Arms-
One of the RMSG scholars, Benaiah Anderson is apprenticed to Denny
Graves, proprietor of No Quarter Arms. It's difficult to find a better
high-end cutler for any weapon customisation needs.
Swordfodder-
Swordfodder is a synthetic target material designed to be used during
cutting practice. It is clean, easy to use, and biodegradable.
Swordfodder is the only cutting material the RMSG uses and recommends.
This is in no way a comprehensive list of schools, vendors or WMA
enthusiasts. Please see the Chicago Swordplay Guild links
pages for more information.
